Cleveland, 26 May 2022 (TDI): The Pakistani Consul-General in Chicago, Tariq Karim, participated in a groundbreaking ceremony at the Pakistan Cultural Garden in Cleveland, Ohio.

During the ceremony, members of Pakistani and other local communities were present. Moreover, local officials also took part in the event. Authorities of the Cleveland cultural garden also attended the ceremony.

The Pakistan Cultural Garden will be the first in the US to have a replica of Minar-e-Pakistan. The replica will symbolize Pakistan’s history, arts, and cultural heritage.

The Pakistani Consul-General participated in the groundbreaking event during a visit to the US State of Ohio. Moreover, during his visit, he held a meeting with Pakistani students and local officials in Cleveland.

Consul-General Tariq Karin discussed a range of important issues with the students. He also encouraged them to focus on tending their learning abilities and active engagement with the local community.

He also called on Cleveland city officials and the President of Global Cleveland. During these meetings, the Consul-General emphasized the importance of bilateral ties, investment opportunities for US businesses in Pakistan, and the role of the Pakistani-American community in enhancing people-to-people relations.

He further said that it is his priority to boost mutual partnership between Pakistan and the US Midwest region. The Midwest region of the US comprises 12 states, including Illinois and Ohio.

He underscored the importance of expanding ties in the fields of trade, investment, energy, climate change, education, and health.

Finally, they also discussed the possibility of establishing sister city relationships and increasing connectivity with academic institutions and think tanks.

The Cleveland Cultural Gardens was established in 1916 in the Rockefeller Park in Cleveland. It is a collection of 33 separate cultural gardens, each presenting the culture of a specific national or ethnic group.

Pakistan-US Ties

Pakistan and the United States are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations this year. There is a high frequency of government-to-government and people-to-people interaction between the two countries. Furthermore, both countries enjoy strong economic ties as well.

There is a significant and vibrant Pakistani-American community in the US. These people are students, workers, business professionals, and artists. Recently, A Pakistani-American businessman and philanthropist received US Presidential award for his services.
