Toronto, 30 May 2022 (TDI): The Pakistani Consul-General in Toronto, Abdul Hameed, presided over a book launch ceremony in Toronto.

The book, titled “Jinhay Mein ne Dekha”, is written by Aftab Rizvi. Aftab Rizvi is a writer and an alum of NED.

Meanwhile, all proceeds from the sale of the book will go to “Ma Jee Endowment Fund” to provide scholarships to deserving NED students.

The Consul-General appreciated the idea of NED alumni establishing an endowment fund for NED university. Moreover, he expressed hope that the alumni organizations of other universities will follow suit.

The event was organized by the NED Alumni Canada (NEDAC) in collaboration with the Pakistan Consulate General in Toronto.

Dr. Sarosh Lodi, the Vice-Chancellor of the NED University of Engineering and Technology, attended the event as the chief guest. Sohail Bashir was invited as the guest of honor while the author Aftab Rizvi was the keynote speaker of the event.

NED Alumni Canada is an alumni organization formed by former students that are now based in Canada. It was founded in 2017. Presently, the Alumni organization boasts 700 members across Canada.

The organization supports deserving students and their families through the NED Alumni Canada Scholarships.

The organization awards scholarships to students on the basis of a need-cum-merit criteria determined by the university authorities. Since its founding in 2017, NEDAC has awarded a total of 82 scholarships to encourage students to excel in engineering education.

NED University

The NED University for Engineering and Technology is a public sector university in Karachi specializing in sciences and engineering education. It was established in 1977 as the provincial government of Sindh upgraded the former NED Government Engineering College.

However, the history of the institution goes as far back as 100 years. in 2021, the university celebrated its centennial, that is, the 100th anniversary of its founding 2021.

Presently, the university provides higher education in chemical, petroleum, mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, and computer engineering while also providing programs in humanities, agriculture, and architecture.
