Washington DC, 27 April 2022 (TDI): Ambassador Masood Khan, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States (US) gave a virtual speech at the 4th Pakistan Tech Summit 2022 organized in the Silicon Valley.

According to Ambassador Masood Khan, the Pakistani government is taking steps to establish a welcoming climate for the digital industry, and now is the right time to enhance tech ties between Pakistan and the United States.

“The United States is ready to assist, and we are ready to join the IT revolution by integrating and absorbing innovations in US technologies,” he said at the Pakistan Tech Summit 2022 in Silicon Valley, California, approximately 40 miles southeast of San Francisco.

According to the Pakistani Envoy, the Summit provides a venue for Pakistani business executives, tech entrepreneurs, and technology experts to come together and establish synergies, build connections between Silicon Valley and the Pakistani startup ecosystem, and join hands for Pakistan’s bright future.

More than 64% of Pakistan’s population is under the age of 30, and the country’s burgeoning middle class is likely to surpass the 100 million mark in the near future. This youth bulge, paired with a burgeoning middle class, projected a bright future for the country’s IT sector.

He claimed that tech entrepreneurs in Pakistan have made half a billion dollars in the last 18 months, largely because of US funding, and that the sector is poised to create tens of billions of dollars in the next decade.

Ambassador Khan stated that the Pakistani government will continue to take initiatives to make the tech industry more welcoming. He stated that laws are being made more business-friendly, that ease of doing business is a priority, and that venture capitalists are being offered incentives.

The Ambassador listed many incentives being offered to boost the tech sector, including the ability for investors to repatriate their funds, data protection legislation in the works, and intellectual property challenges being handled.

During the conference, he invited participants to share the results of their discussions and to identify areas where the government and embassy could assist.

Ambassador Khan praised Arzish Azam, the founder, and CEO of Ejad Labs, for holding the 4th Pakistan Tech Summit in 2022. The Summit was hosted in collaboration with private and public sector partners.
