Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has proposed a zero-tariff bilateral trade deal with the US, aimed at expanding trade ties in multiple sectors, as the government welcomed President Donald Trump’s statement about enhancing trade with Pakistan.
Pakistan government has put forward a bilateral trade proposal rooted in mutual interests, suggesting zero tariffs on specific tariff lines, The Express Tribune reported on Friday.
Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan welcomed President Trump’s recent remarks on boosting trade with Pakistan, calling it a new chapter in Pak-US relations and a reflection of Pakistan’s growing economic and diplomatic strength.

He said that despite the Pak-India tension, Washington’s desire to enhance trade ties with Pakistan was a reflection of the fact that the global community was looking at Pakistan as an economic partner.
This is a positive signal for Islamabad that Washington is considering Pakistan as an important trade partner, he said.

The minister added that after the Pakistan-India recent standoff, Islamabad’s image has been enhanced. Now Washington is viewing Pakistan and India on equal footing.
