Lahore, 3 November 2022 (TDI): Bisma Maroof-led Pakistan women’s cricket team is ready as they take on Ireland women’s cricket team in the First of three Women One Day Internationals (WODIs) on Friday at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Ireland Women are all set for their maiden tour of Pakistan. They will play three WODI and three Women T20I. The ODI series will be held from November 4 to November 9, as part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25.

The T20I series will take place from November 12 to November 16. Ireland women’s team led by Laura Delany arrived in Lahore on 30 October 2022 and participated in practice sessions in Gaddafi Stadium.

Pakistan on the other hand participated in a productive five-day pre-series camp, which included two intra-squad matches and intense training and practice sessions.

Pakistan enjoys playing against Ireland as the hosts have an edge over visitors in ODIs, winning 12 out of 18 matches. The last time both teams competed in One-Day International was in Feb 2017 with Pakistan winning by 86 runs.

ODI series trophy unveiled

On November 2, both captains unveiled the trophy for Trans Group Pakistan vs Ireland Women ODI Series 2022 at historic Government College University, Lahore.

Pakistan’s captain, Bisma Maroof during the trophy unveiling ceremony said that her team was fully confident and focused on delivering their best in the ODI series which is part of the ICC Women’s Championship.

Moreover, she emphasized the importance of winning the game and that it will be a good opportunity for young players to perform well in helping the side to win along with experience.

She further urged fans to come to the stadium to enjoy a good game of cricket and support the team. Ireland’s captain Laura Delany expressed excitement to be in Pakistan and called the Irish cricket team tour to Pakistan historic.

Adding to that she said, Ireland will look forward to winning the series and garb ICC Women’s Championship points. She said that this series is a great opportunity for young Irish girls to perform against Pakistan and prove themselves as Pakistan is one of the best sides in the world.
