Pakistan wishes Turkiye on National Unity Day

Islamabad, 15 July 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif extends felicitation on the occasion of the 6th Turkish Democracy and National Unity Day.

The special day is commemorated to represent the resistance of the Turkish nation against the attack on democracy. The Prime Minister of Pakistan also extended prayers for those martyred.

On the occasion of the 6th Democracy and National Unity Day, the Government and People of Pakistan reiterate their unwavering solidarity with the brotherly people and the Government of Türkiye.

Further, the valiant battle of the courageous Turkish people against the coup attempt on 15 July 2016 demonstrates that nations can overcome any difficulties and problems with unity, fortitude, resolve, and commitment.

Pakistan’s people and government join Turkiye’s people and government. In paying respect to all those martyrs who gave their lives in defense of Turkiye’s democracy and stability.

Commemorative Ceremony in Islamabad

The Turkish Embassy organised a commemorative ceremony to remember the martyrs in the Turkish embassy, Islamabad. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Pervez Ashraf, was the Guest of Honor at the ceremony.

“As Turkiye’s time-tested friend, Pakistan has always stood side by side with its Turkish brothers and sisters. Even during the turning hours of July 15’s night,” said Raja Pervez Ashraf.

Pakistani people have always taken pleasure in Türkiye’s success. People of both sides have shared joys and sufferings for millennia.

Further, Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Paçac talked at a  news conference at the Embassy.

Ambassador discussed the coup attempt carried out on 15 July 2016 by FETO.

It was the first occasion in the republic’s history when a military coup was thwarted by civilian opposition.

In the course of opposing a group of armed troops loyal to FETO, 251 people were murdered. Most of them were civilians, and at least 2,700 were injured.

FETO conspiracy to topple the regime included assaults against the Parliament, the presidency, security forces, air bases, and civilians on that Friday failed. Only the true people’s will and peace prevailed.
