Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan delivered a dominant all-round performance to register a comprehensive 5–0 victory over Senegal in their Davis Cup Group II tie, winning all singles and doubles matches in emphatic fashion.

On the second day of play in Islamabad, Pakistan’s experienced duo Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Muzammil Murtaza sealed the tie by defeating Senegal’s Seydina Andre and Nicolas Jean in the doubles encounter. The Pakistani pair claimed a straight-sets win, edging both sets 7–6, 7–6, to confirm Pakistan’s overall success.

Earlier in the singles matches, Muhammad Shoaib strengthened Pakistan’s grip on the contest with a solid 7–5, 6–2 victory over Senegal’s Nicolas Jadoun. His win came on the back of earlier successes by Muzammil Murtaza and seasoned campaigner Aqeel Khan, who had already placed Pakistan in a commanding position. With these results, Pakistan successfully clinched the tie 5–0.

Speaking to the media, Pakistan Davis Cup captain Rashid Malik praised the players for their outstanding performance under pressure. He said the team made full use of home conditions while planning their strategy and added that similar planning would be adopted for away ties as well.

He further stated that Pakistan is fully prepared to host and compete in more international tennis events in the future.
