Rawalpindi, 30 August 2024 (TDI): The first day of the second and final Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been abandoned without a ball being bowled due to incessant rain in Rawalpindi.
Heavy rains have continued to batter the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi for the past two days. So much so that the pre-match press conference on Thursday was also conducted in the Serena Hotel where the teams are staying. Usually, all pre-match activities are held at the stadium.
The situation remained the same on Friday, as both teams did not even leave their hotel.

The forecast has predicted more rain later in the day, with an overcast condition tomorrow. It is likely that more than one session on Saturday will be lost due to a wet outfield, given no more rain.
This means that the Pakistan team will have three-and-a-half days, or even less to produce a result out of the second Test to draw the series 1-1. Failing to do so will see them losing their first-ever Test series against Bangladesh – that too on home soil.
Meanwhile, the third and final ODI between Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh A, scheduled at the Islamabad Sports Club stadium, was also called off due to rain. The Shaheens had won the first ODI, while the second and third ODIs were abandoned due to rain, giving them a 1-0 victory in the three-match series.
