Washington (TDI): Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, expressed optimism over the future of bilateral relations in a New Year message, describing 2025 as a “transformative” year for Pakistan-US ties.
“I extend my best wishes to Pakistani-Americans and the American people for a happy and prosperous 2026,” Ambassador Sheikh said, adding that the two countries’ relationship is expected to make “further strides” in the coming year.
Reflecting on 2025, the ambassador said the year brought a positive momentum in a partnership spanning nearly eight decades.
“We not only continued our cooperation in established areas such as counterterrorism, health, and education, but also explored new avenues to transform our longstanding relationship into a strategic, long-term partnership rooted in economic engagement,” he noted.

Ambassador Sheikh highlighted information technology, minerals, energy, hospitality, and tourism as sectors identified for mutually beneficial collaboration.
He emphasized that these initiatives are aimed at creating durable and sustainable ties that will “survive the test of time.”

“The leadership of both countries met frequently this past year,” he added, stressing the importance of expanding people-to-people contacts and deepening business linkages.
“While 2025 allowed us to explore new areas of cooperation, the next step is to translate these ideas into concrete actions.”
