United Nations (TDI): Pakistan has urged the international community to address the root causes of terrorism, including foreign occupation, unresolved conflicts, and denial of self-determination, while ensuring that “counter-terrorism” efforts are not misused to violate human rights as the occupying powers are doing in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly’s Legal Committee, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative, said: “We must clearly distinguish between terrorism and the legitimate struggle of peoples under foreign occupation for their inalienable right to self-determination.”
He called for reforms in the UN’s counter-terrorism framework, urging inclusion of new and emerging threats while ending the stigmatization of Islam and Muslims.
Ambassador Jadoon reminded the forum that Pakistan has been on the frontline of the fight against terrorism for over two decades, losing more than 90,000 lives, yet continues to face state-sponsored terrorism from across its borders.

He condemned a neighboring country, in an indirect reference to India, for funding and abetting groups such as the TTP, Daesh, and the BLA, and warned against regional destabilization through aggression and disinformation campaigns.
Pakistan’s representative emphasized that state terrorism, extra-territorial assassinations, and the use of proxy groups must also be recognized as global threats.
In response to Indian unfounded allegations of cross-border terrorism, Pakistani delegate Muhammad Jawad Ajmal categorically rejected the claims, stating that India perpetuates state terrorism and uses propaganda to deflect attention from its actions in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Ajmal said, “It has become a routine script: whenever an incident occurs, Pakistan is reflexively blamed, without evidence or investigation.”
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and dialogue, urging India to adopt sincerity, mutual respect, and genuine diplomacy for lasting regional stability.
