Pakistan, UAE signed MoU for Climate Cooperation

UAE & Pakistan signed a MoU to enhance cooperation in the fields of Climate Change mitigation and adaptation and environmental protection. UAE's Climate Chane Minister, Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, and SAPM Pakistan, Malik Amin Aslam signed the MoU.

Glasgow, 8 November 2021 (TDI): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the fields of climate change mitigation and adaptation, and environmental protection in line with the national legislations of the two countries.

Both countries are participating in the ongoing COP26 Summit in Glasgow. SAPM on Climate change, Malik Amin Aslam spoke about Pakistan’s initiatives on nature- based solutions to adapt to climate change at United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).The SAPM is currently leading Pakistan delegation at COP26 in Glasgow, UK.

The memorandum was signed by Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, UAE’s Minister for Climate Change and Environment, and Special Assistant to Pakistan’s Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam.

Earlier, Pakistan and Germany decided to launch Pak-German Climate & Energy Initiative to further common climate goals.

SAPM Malik informed that Germany has announced €150 million in pursuance of climate agreement between Pakistan and Germany. Germany has agreed to assist and partner Pakistan in Clean Energy development and nature based solutions.
