Pakistan, UAE Agree to Enhance Railway, Economic Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Monday met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Al-Tahiri and discussed bilateral cooperation, particularly in railway sector.

Ambassador Al-Tahiri congratulated Hanif Abbasi on assuming his new role and extended his best wishes for his tenure.

He also expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express in Baluchistan, where the militants attempted to hijack the train and took passengers hostage.

The envoy condemned the attack and conveyed his sympathies to the victims and their families.

During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the longstanding and strong relations between Pakistan and the UAE.

The ambassador reaffirmed UAE’s commitment to further strengthening this partnership, stressing the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between the two countries.

The minister underlined Pakistan Railways’ ongoing efforts to enhance services through strategic partnerships with domestic and global suppliers.

He reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and encouraged UAE investment in the Pakistan’s railway infrastructure.

Both the sides explored opportunities for expanding economic and trade ties, with a special focus on railway projects and broader investment opportunities.

They agreed to continue discussions and cooperate further in the rail sector and other economic domains.
