The session brought together female lawmakers from both countries who exchanged views on the evolving role of women in national legislatures. Participants discussed legislative experiences and strategies aimed at protecting women’s rights while also strengthening family values within their respective societies.

The Turkmenistan delegation included several parliamentary members, such as Bayramgozel Myradova, Hatycha Mustakova, Mengli Diwanova, Jenet Owekova, Jeren Geldiyeva, Enejan Atayeva, Chemen Rejepova, and Jahangul Myradova.

Diplomatic representatives also joined the discussion, including Dr. Faryal Leghari, Pakistan’s ambassador, and Atadjan Movlamov, Turkmenistan’s ambassador, reflecting the strengthening parliamentary and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

During the meeting, the Pakistani delegation highlighted the institutional experience of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of Pakistan, sharing its structure, mandate, and achievements in promoting women’s participation in legislative processes. The caucus was established in 2008 through a resolution of the National Assembly to enhance women’s representation and advance gender-responsive legislation.

Pakistan also suggested that Turkmenistan explore the idea of creating a similar Women’s Parliamentary Caucus in its parliament to help improve coordination among female lawmakers and encourage gender-sensitive policymaking.

The WPC further invited women legislators from Turkmenistan to visit Pakistan and observe the caucus in action, particularly during the anticipated visit of Turkmenistan’s president to Pakistan.
