Pakistan to Host OIC University VC’s Forum

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan is set to host a Vice Chancellors’ (VCs) forum for universities belonging to Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries.

The four-day session will be held from February 4 to 7 in Islamabad.

The event will attract more than 150 academic leaders from Islamic countries. The discussions in the forum will surround collaboration in higher education.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Mukhtar Ahmed discussed enhancing academic ties with Somalia’s education officials.

During the meeting, held at the HEC Secretariat, Dr Mukhtar invited the Somalian delegation to attend the Vice Chancellor’s Forum next month.

The Somalian delegation was led by Minister of Education Farah Abdulkadir and Ambassador Sheikhnur Mohamed Hassan.

Dr Mukhtar emphasized Pakistan’s initiatives to expand scholarship opportunities for students from Muslim countries, highlighting the achievements of the Afghan Student Scholarship Program.

He also unveiled “Ilm-Bank,” a virtual platform designed to link higher education institutions across OIC member states to enhance cross-border education and research partnerships.
