Islamabad, (TDI): Pakistan is set to export 40,000 metric tons of sugar to Tajikistan, following an agreement facilitated by the Trade Corporation of Pakistan (TCP).
The deal will involve coordination between the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association and Tajikistan’s State Material Reserve.
The agreement was discussed in a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and the Director of the State of Tajikistan, Ahmadzoda Nurmuhamad Ato, where both sides explored avenues for boosting bilateral trade and investment.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet had previously approved the sourcing of 40,000 metric tons of sugar to Tajikistan, in line with Islamabad’s broader strategy to strengthen economic ties with Central Asian nations.
The agreement marks a significant step in expanding trade relations between the two countries.
Formation of Joint Working Group
During the meeting, both Pakistan and Tajikistan agreed to establish a joint working group aimed at promoting bilateral trade, specifically focusing on the exchange of edible goods.
