New York (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi on Tuesday, on the margins of the 80th UN General Assembly session.
Dar emphasized the importance Pakistan attaches to its partnership with the GCC, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to further strengthening broad-based cooperation with member states of the Council.
Both sides discussed ways to expand collaboration across multiple sectors and agreed on the need to enhance institutional linkages between Pakistan and the GCC for more structured engagement.
The meeting reflects Pakistan’s continued focus on cultivating closer relations with Gulf states, which remain vital partners in trade, energy, investment, and the employment of Pakistani expatriates.

The GCC hosts a significant Pakistani workforce whose remittances form a crucial part of the national economy.
Analysts note that stronger institutional ties with the GCC could open new opportunities for joint ventures in areas such as renewable energy, food security, and infrastructure, alongside security and defense cooperation.
These sectors are increasingly viewed as engines of stability and growth in the wider region.
