Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Commonwealth’s Global Role

United Nations (TDI): Pakistan on Tuesday reiterated its resolve to enhance the Commonwealth’s role in addressing global challenges and advancing collective prosperity.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar made the remarks while addressing the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM).

Dar underlined the importance of the Commonwealth as a platform for dialogue, peace-building, and cooperation at a time when the world faces overlapping crises ranging from conflicts and climate change to economic vulnerabilities and disruptive technologies.

“The climate crisis is an existential threat to many of our members. Pakistan, as one of the most climate-vulnerable countries, has experienced this reality firsthand,” Dar stressed, urging sustained action on adaptation, financing, and resilience-building.

The intervention reflects Pakistan’s longstanding engagement with the Commonwealth, where it continues to advocate for inclusive economic growth and climate justice, especially for developing nations most affected by environmental degradation.

Observers note that Pakistan’s emphasis on youth empowerment and digital transformation aligns with the organization’s evolving priorities, particularly in equipping member states to adapt to technological change and shifting global trade dynamics.

By underscoring shared values of cooperation and solidarity, Pakistan has positioned itself as a proactive voice in the Commonwealth, signaling its determination to help the association play a greater role in shaping a fairer, more resilient, and interconnected world.
