Tariq Fatemi drew attention of the UNSC members towards the fact that for the past decade, the SC did not mandate any Peacekeeping Mission, despite the fact that on several occasions there was an actual need for it.
He proposed that sufficient allocation of resources must be made possible, for Peacekeeping has proven to be the most effective way of mitigating and minimizing the disastrous impacts of conflicts, especially for civilian populations.
He also stressed that UN Peacekeeping Missions must land in conflict-ridden zones with very clear political objectives.
