Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan denounced recent remarks by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “reckless provocation” and a threat to regional stability.
While addressing a gathering in Gujarat on Monday, Modi stated, “The people of Pakistan must come forward to eliminate terrorism from their country. Their youth will have to come forward”.
“Live a life of peace, eat your bread or choose my bullet,” he added. Modi then boasted about India’s progress, stating the country has passed Japan to become the world’s 4rth-largest economy.
He went on to criticize Pakistan, stating, “India believes in tourism, while Pakistan treats terrorism as tourism, a threat to global security,”
Reacting to the comments, the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed regret over the “continued erosion of maturity and decorum in Indian statecraft”.
Modi addressed in Gujarat with a way like electoral campaign rather than the soberness expected of the leader of a nuclear-armed country, the Foreign Office said in its statement.
The hate-driven invocation of violence Modi’s address is very disturbing as it sets a dangerous precedent in region already affected by volatility, the statement added.
“These comments violate the UN charter’s principles” it added. “Member countries must resolve conflicts peacefully and to refrain from the threat or use of force.”

Moreover, Modi’s remarks are aimed to divert the global focus from human rights violations and demographic changes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the statement said.
It added that Islamabad’s role in UN peacekeeping and international counter-terrorism efforts speak louder than any hostile soundbite.

The Foreign Office noted that Modi regime is promoting extremism through majoritarianism, religious intolerance, and the systematic disenfranchisement of minorities.
Reiterating its commitment to peace, stability and sovereign equality, Pakistan cautioned that any threat to its security would be met with a strong and decisive response.
