Pakistan Slams Jaishankar’s ‘Irresponsible’ Remarks

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has strongly rejected comments made by Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar during his different media engagements in Brussels.

In a sharply worded statement issued on Wednesday, the Foreign Office (FO) criticized Jaishankar’s comments, advising the Indian leadership to avoid “manufacturing narratives” aimed at justifying aggressive behaviour.

The discourse of senior diplomats should encourage peace and cooperation, not reckless posturing, the FO spokesperson said.

The tone and words of a foreign minister must reflect the dignity of their office, he added.

During his engagements in Brussels, Jaishankar appeared to defend India’s cross-border actions by referencing what he described as an ongoing right to target those who harm India.

Referring to “Operation Sindoor,” he stated that India reserved the right to strike “terrorists anytime, anywhere.”

Pakistan, however, sees this rhetoric as part of what it describes as a long-running pattern. “For years, India has pushed a false narrative of victimhood to mislead global opinion,” the FO statement said, adding that India’s “continued anti-Pakistan tirade” cannot obscure its own record of cross-border interference.

The spokesperson further said India should reflect on its own actions, including “state-sponsored terrorism and subversive activities” rather than pointing fingers at others.

The FO also warned that attempts to justify aggressive actions through “fabricated stories” only expose a sense of frustration in New Delhi.

“The narrative emerging from India shows sheer frustration following its failed military escapades against Pakistan,” the statement concluded.

“History will not favour those who shout the loudest, but those who show wisdom in action.”
