Riyadh (TDI): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to establish a joint committee to produce songs, movies, and documentaries, as part of efforts to strengthen relations in the media industry.
The announcement was made on Wednesday following a meeting between Information Minister Ataullah Tarar and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary in Riyadh, during the 4th edition of the Saudi Media Forum.
The forum, which runs from Wednesday to Friday, brings together more than 200 media professionals, innovators, and thought leaders from across the globe.
This year’s theme of the event is “Media in an Evolving World”.
The newly agreed joint committee will focus on collaborative productions, including songs, movies, and documentaries.

The ministers also discussed enhancing collaboration in other sectors, such as journalist exchanges and training programmes.
The meeting underlined the importance of collaboration to combat misinformation and propaganda.
Tarar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to backing Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the kingdom’s economy and reduce its dependency on oil.
He stressed that Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia was evolving into a stronger economic partnership, with Saudi Arabia playing a major role in Pakistan’s development.
Al-Dossary lauded the contributions of Pakistani expatriates in Saudi Arabia’s development, noting that promoting collaboration across all sectors, including information, was a priority for the kingdom.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long been close regional partners and economic allies.
In October 2024, both nations inked 34 agreements worth $2.8 billion to further boost their cooperation.
The Kingdom is home to over 2.7 million Pakistani expatriates, making it the top destination for remittances sent to Pakistan.
