Islamabad, 19 June 2023 (TDI): Pakistan and the Russian Federation are preparing to hold the 5th round of Bilateral Political Consultations on June 20, 2023, in the capital city of Islamabad.
This significant event will be led by Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, who will be visiting Islamabad on June 20th and 21st. Heading the Pakistan delegation will be Foreign Secretary Dr. Asad Majeed Khan.
The purpose of this meeting is to conduct a comprehensive review of the current state of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia. Both sides will also identify areas of mutual interest for further cooperation and engage in meaningful discussions on important regional and global developments.
The friendly relationship between Pakistan and Russia is characterized by mutual respect, trust, and understanding. This year, the two nations are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, highlighting the longstanding ties between them.

Asad Majeed’s two-day visit to Tehran
Pakistan and Iran have reached an agreement to strengthen trade and bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including energy, maritime affairs, and transportation, following the two-day visit (June 17-18) of Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, to Tehran, where he led the 12th round of bilateral political consultations.
During his visit, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan engaged in fruitful and wide-ranging discussions with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri Kani.
The discussions focused on expanding and diversifying bilateral trade, improving transport connectivity, fostering educational exchanges, and enhancing people-to-people interactions. The meeting was attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador Rahim Hayat Qureshi and other senior officials from both nations.
Recognizing the importance of institutional mechanisms such as the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) and Joint Trade Committee (JTC), both sides stressed the need for regular convening of these forums to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
In addition, during the visit, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. They expressed their commitment to sustaining the current momentum of high-level exchanges and reinforcing mutually beneficial cooperation across diverse fields.
The Pakistani foreign secretary welcomed the normalization of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, underscoring the positive impact it will have on regional stability and cooperation.
