Dubai, 2 December 2023 (TDI): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-Ul-Haq Kakar is participating in the 28th United Nations Conference of Parties (COP28) at the Expo City in Dubai where he will attend the World Climate Action Summit on 1st and 2nd December.
Prime Minister Pakistan is leading the Pakistani delegation comprising of members of the Interim Federal Cabinet including Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, and Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar.
Federal Minister for Climate Change Ahmed Irfan Aslam and Energy Minister Muhammad Ali are also the part of delegation participating in COP28.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-Ul-Haq Kakar on his arrival at the Expo City Dubai was received by the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Secretary General United Nations Antonio Guterres.
On the first day, on the sidelines of the Action Summit, the Prime Minister had formal and informal interactions with various world leaders.
In a prominent interaction with Prime Minister, he had an informal engagement with British King Charles III while participating in the group photo of the high-level segment of the high-level28th Conference of Parties.
Prime Minister also had informal interactions with the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the Prime Minister of Denmark, Matte Frederiksen.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister met with his Dutch Counterpart Prime Minister Mart Rutte where both discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest including the situation in Afghanistan and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Both highlighted the positive trajectory of the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Netherlands at COP28. Prime Minister Kakar invited the Dutch Prime Minister to visit Pakistan.
Interim Prime Minister also met with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, both discussed the commendable progress made by the government to maintain economic stability and timely implementation of planned reforms.
Caretaker Prime Minister visited the Pakistan Pavilion, established at the venue of the United Nations 28th Conference of Parties. The Prime Minister was briefed on the efforts being made by Pakistan regarding the the facilitation in the Loss and Damage Fund.
He also interacted with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, Kaja Kallas. The two leaders talked about the importance of digital technology and Artificial Intelligence in dealing with food insecurity and enhancing agricultural productivity.
He expressed the desire to develop cooperative linkages with Estonia especially in trade and investment, higher education, and Information Technology. They also agreed to work together to address shared challenges such as climate change and food security.

During the sidelines Prime Minister had informal talks with the President of Maldives Muhammad Muizzu, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Caretaker Prime Minister is scheduled to give a national statement at the World Climate Action Summit today.
