New York (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on the sideline of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The meeting highlighted bilateral relations and deepening cooperation between the two neighboring countries in the fields of trade, investment, connectivity, and cultural ties. Both leaders have reviewed the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Iran relations.
Pakistan-Iran emphasized the importance of strengthening good neighborly ties. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif committed to improving cooperation with Iran in various sectors. He also outlined the need to foster bilateral trade and promote mutual investment in the energy, infrastructure, and technology sectors.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of increasing connectivity between the two countries to facilitate better trade and economic exchange.
The Prime Minister discussed the historical and cultural linkages between Pakistan and Iran. They reaffirm their desire to develop stronger cultural coordination that can act as a foundation for deeper people-to-people ties.
The leaders admitted the rich cultural heritage shared by the two nations, and also, agreed that enhancing cultural exchanges would cement the long-standing bond between Pakistan and Iran.
Moreover, discussing bilateral matters, the Pakistan Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s strong stance on the Palestine issue and expressed deep concern over the current violence in Gaza. He called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and cessation of hostilities against Palestinians and Lebanese citizens.

However, he emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to the crisis in the Middle East and called for the international community to intervene in addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian echoed the sentiments of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shows commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Pakistan.
Both countries agreed to continue working closely on regional and international challenges of mutual concern. They urge to maintain peace and stability in the region.
They valued dialogue and collaboration to address common challenges including terrorism, economic stability, and security concerns.
