Beijing, 22 October 2021 (TDI): Pakistan participated in 130th China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair. The fair took place from 15 to 19 October at Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. The event was held, in integrated online and offline manner, for the first time after the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 80,000 enterprises participated in the event and more than 20,000 booths were setup.
Speaking on sidelines of the Fair, Pakistan’s Consul General in Guangzhou, Diyar Khan, stated Guangdong is a major trading partner for Pakistan in China. He further added Canton fair is important for Pakistan and the country will continue to participate in the event.
Furthermore, he said organizing the event online is an innovation. Pakistan fully supports the online fair thorough its Ministry of Trade and Commerce. The Consul General appreciated China for organizing the event in hybrid mode. He remarked this will significantly facilitate international trade during the pandemic era.
The international traders, attending the Canton Fair, desired to enhance trade with Pakistan and said they look forward to collaborate and explore more in the country.
China launched the Canton Fair in 1957. It is an international trade event and a crucial platform for promoting China’s foreign trade. It bridges corporations from Pakistan and China. Th fair provides tremendous trading opportunities and reinforces strong economic linkages between China and Pakistan.
