Pakistan, Malaysia Ink Six Agreements to Deepen Cooperation in Key Sectors

Putrajaya (TDI): Pakistan and Malaysia on Monday inked six accords to strengthen bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors, including education, Halal certification, tourism, small and medium enterprises, and combating corruption.

The agreements were exchanged during a ceremony at the Perdana Putra Complex, the office of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, as part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s three-day official visit to Malaysia.

Both leaders witnessed the signing ceremony following their one-on-one meeting and delegation-level talks.

An MoU was signed between Pakistan’s Foreign Service Academy and Malaysia’s Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) to enhance diplomatic training and exchange programs.

A separate MoU was inked to promote cooperation in higher education, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Malaysia’s Higher Education Minister Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir.

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Malaysia’s Tourism Minister Tiong King Sing exchanged documents for enhanced cooperation in tourism development.

Another MoU on Halal certification was signed between Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Malaysia’s Religious Affairs Minister Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im Bin Haji Mokhtar.

Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission agreed to strengthen collaboration in preventing and combating corruption.

An agreement between Pakistan’s SMEDA and Malaysia’s SME Corporation was also signed to enhance cooperation and business linkages between the two countries’ small and medium enterprises sectors.

The visit marks a new chapter in Pakistan–Malaysia relations, emphasizing practical cooperation and people-centered development across multiple sectors.
