Bishkek (TDI): Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, expanding economic cooperation and promoting regional connectivity during talks between President Asif Ali Zardari and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.
Addressing delegation-level discussions during his four-day official visit to Kyrgyzstan, President Zardari said the two countries enjoy longstanding brotherly ties rooted in shared faith, historical links and cultural affinity.
He emphasized the need to translate these close relations into stronger economic cooperation by increasing bilateral trade, improving connectivity through more direct flights and exploring new areas of partnership.
The visit marks the first official trip by a Pakistani president to Kyrgyzstan in 21 years, following President Japarov’s visit to Pakistan in December 2025, reflecting growing momentum in high-level engagement between the two countries.
President Zardari said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan should work together to achieve shared prosperity, stressing that closer regional cooperation is essential for sustainable development.

He congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, describing the achievement as recognition of the country’s constructive contribution to international peace, security and multilateral cooperation.
The president said Pakistan looks forward to working closely with Kyrgyzstan on regional and global issues while building on the historic connections established through the ancient Silk Route.
He also expressed Pakistan’s interest in expanding exports of quality products to Kyrgyzstan at competitive prices and called for greater collaboration in industry, scientific research, innovation and emerging technologies.
Highlighting the importance of investing in future generations, President Zardari stressed that both countries should work together to create a peaceful, stable and prosperous future for the region.
President Sadyr Japarov reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to elevating bilateral relations and described Pakistan as an important partner in South Asia. He reiterated his government’s support for the implementation of the CASA-1000 energy project, emphasizing its importance for regional energy connectivity and cooperation.

President Japarov also expressed interest in expanding collaboration in agriculture, textiles, mining and minerals, the halal industry, healthcare, information technology, science, education and tourism.
Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan maintain friendly relations based on shared history, cultural ties and a common vision of promoting peace, connectivity and economic integration between Central and South Asia. Both sides expressed confidence that continued high-level engagement would further strengthen their strategic partnership.
