Pakistan-Kazakhstan bolsters cooperation in diverse sectors

Islamabad, 22 November 2023 (TDI): Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, underscored Pakistan’s commitment to fortify its longstanding relationship with Kazakhstan.

Emphasizing the significance of bilateral ties, the minister highlighted ongoing efforts aimed at bolstering cooperation across multiple sectors during a pivotal meeting with Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin of Kazakhstan.

Minister Solangi and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Kistafin deliberated upon crucial facets of mutual interest, encompassing the augmentation of bilateral relations, amplifying collaboration within the media landscape, fostering public relations initiatives, and addressing the prevailing regional dynamics.

Expressing the imperative need for nurturing public relations and cultural exchanges between the two nations, Minister Solangi stressed the importance of further invigorating cooperation among the respective state media institutions.

He underscored the pivotal role played by Pakistan Television (PTV) and Radio Pakistan as the primary conduits for information dissemination on both sides.

Highlighting the trajectory of media collaboration, Minister Solangi recalled the signing of a significant memorandum of understanding for media cooperation between the Associated Press of Pakistan and the Kazakh Information Agency back in 2018.

Additionally, he announced a forthcoming film shooting endeavor by a Lahore-based team in Kazakhstan, a strategic step towards fostering cultural ties between the two countries.

Pakistan’s active participation in global forums like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was also acknowledged during the meeting.

Minister Solangi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the SCO, recognizing it as a dynamic platform for building robust relations with regional counterparts, given the shared interests and interconnected objectives.

Ambassador Kistafin extended a cordial invitation to Minister Solangi to visit Kazakhstan, marking a pivotal occasion to formally sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Information and Broadcasting of both nations.

The Ambassador also highlighted the profound admiration of the President of Kazakhstan for Pakistan and its people, further disclosing the upcoming visit of the President next year, promising a landmark event that would elevate trade relations between the two nations.

Underlining the strategic importance of Pakistan as a gateway to warm waters in the Middle East, Ambassador Kistafin acknowledged Sialkot’s prominence as a leading hub for manufacturing footballs and surgical instruments.

Additionally, Minister Solangi reiterated the mutual goal of strengthening economic ties, fostering increased bilateral trade, and enhancing investment prospects between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
