Pakistan Kazakhstan agree to enhance cooperation in education sector

Islamabad, 8 June 2024 (TDI): Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Y.Kistafin met with Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC) of Pakistan to cooperate in the field of education.

As part of the work carried out to strengthen and diversify cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, Y.Kistafin especially highlighted the field of education.

The Ambassador spoke about the measures taken to establish interaction between higher educational institutions of the two countries, stating the advisability of involving authorized institutions of Kazakhstan and Pakistan in this work.

In turn, the Chairman of the HEC informed about the policy of the Government of Pakistan in the field of higher education, aimed at improving the quality and establishing interaction with foreign partners.

According to M. Ahmed, cooperation between universities can also facilitate joint research projects, bringing a qualitatively new level of partnership in the field of science.

During the meeting, Y.Kistafin invited the Chairman of the Commission together with the heads of Pakistani universities to visit Kazakhstan to hold talks with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, educational institutions to form a favorable institutional environment and identify promising areas of cooperation.

As a result of the event, an agreement was made to soon organize negotiations between Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Previously in May, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin visited one of the leading universities of Pakistan “The National University of Science & Technology” (NUST), where he held a meeting with the Rector of NUST Javed Mahmood Bukhari.

Ambassador spoke about the work carried out in the framework of strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, emphasizing the particular importance of developing cooperation in the field of education, including the strengthening of ties between educational institutions.
