Islamabad, 11 October 2021 (TDI): Italian ambassador to Pakistan, Andreas Ferrarese met senior business leaders of the country. The meeting took place at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on 10 October.
The meeting boiled down to discussion on enhancing bilateral economic ties between Pakistan and Italy. Speaking on the occasion, the Italian ambassador said there are ample opportunities for the advancement of business and investment ties between the two countries.
He stated there is a need for establishing linkages between business communities of Pakistan and Italy. This will facilitate trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. For this purpose, the Italian embassy will assist the local business communities and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is ready to negotiate with local businessmen and traders. Furthermore, the embassy will facilitate the process of providing business visas to traders.
He further added Italian government is also working to strengthen economic linkages between the two countries. In this regard, the government has deployed new business and economic missions n major cities of Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. He announced that these missions will be expanded to other potential trading hubs of Pakistan to expedite trade and economic integration between the two countries.
Pakistan and Italy share cordial diplomatic relations based on mutual respect and trust. Both countries cooperate in diverse sectors. Moreover, Italy hosts most Pakistani diaspora among the European Union (EU) countries.
Additionally, during the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in technological sector and green economy. They also expressed resolve to extend cultural cooperation and boost bilateral tourism.
Mr. Andreas Ferrarese also informed the participants that a new Italian embassy is being set up in Pakistan. This will amplify level of cooperation between the two countries in many fields.
