Pakistan, Iran Agree to Boost Regional Connectivity

Tehran (TDI): Pakistan and Iran on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding cooperation in the communications sector, as the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit concluded in Tehran.

The agreement was signed by Iran’s Minister for Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, who led the Pakistani delegation at the summit.

In the formal bilateral meeting, both foreign ministers, along with their respective delegations, proceeded to discuss items of strengthening the historical association between the two neighboring countries.

Talks were focused on strengthening collaboration in infrastructure and harmonizing mutual projects under the ECO framework.

Minister Khan referred to the ancient cultural, religious, and historical ties between the people of Pakistan and Iran, focusing particularly on the shared heritage of the Balochistan and that of Iran.

“These commonalities are not just symbolic, they’re lived realities that shape our daily interactions,” he said.

He welcomed Tehran’s initiative to host the ECO summit and voiced hope that the forum would produce constructive regional cooperation outcomes.

Minister Sadegh assured Pakistan of Iran’s full support in the communications domain and reiterated her country’s interest in accelerating joint ventures to improve regional connectivity.
