Islamabad, 9 September 2024 (TDI): Soon, a trade team from Pakistan would travel to Tehran as part of its efforts to develop “non-sanctioned” commercial connections with Iran and other neighboring countries that are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan stated that Pakistan anticipated close collaboration with the new Iranian government in an exclusive interview on the eve of the 23rd summit of the SCO members in Islamabad.
Kamal declared, “We are committed to exploring non-official channels for trade with Iran and our neighboring countries through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.”
As per the minister, the visit by the delegation from Pakistan was scheduled much earlier, but it was delayed because of the untimely demise of President Ibrahim Raisi and his associates earlier this year.
Late President Dr. Raisi’s visit to Pakistan included discussions between the two nations on how to improve commerce and remove barriers. “We are trying to find different solutions that will be special for non-sanctioned trade routes,” he said.
The SCO members’ ministers of trade and economic affairs are gathering for the 23rd time in Pakistan. The next conference is “very important with the presence of the key delegations,” according to Jam Kamal Khan.

“Shanghai is set for this week in Islamabad, and given the current state of affairs in the area and the range of possibilities around global and regional economic trends, it is deemed to be immensely significant,” he stated.
He said that Pakistan would provide a practical agenda at the meeting to improve the standard of living for the people in the region.
According to the minister, this development will present a chance to protect our shared interests and advance regional ties.
