Islamabad (TDI): The Director Generals of Military Operations of Pakistan and India established contact through a hotline on Wednesday afternoon, their third such communication since the two sides agreed to a ceasefire facilitated by the US and other friendly nations.
The two military officials discussed the ground situation and agreed to maintain the status quo, with the ceasefire holding “for the time being”, in line with their previous discussion on Monday, The News reported.
No official statement has been released by either side regarding the contact or its specifics.
Key global capitals are reportedly engaged with both Pakistan and India, urging restraint and emphasizing for early confidence-building measures to pave the way for structured and high-level dialogue.

To stabilize the fragile ceasefire, specific steps have already been agreed upon. Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary and spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office, is likely to brief the media tomorrow and provide further insight into recent developments.
In a related development, diplomatic personnel recently declared persona non grata by both nations returned to their respective homelands on Tuesday, complying with the 24-hour deadline to leave.

As a result, the strength of the respective high commissions has been dropped to twenty-nine officials each.
