Islamabad, 6 September 2024 (TDI): A high-level delegation from the Defense Services Command and Staff College of Sri Lanka visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.
This visit was a part of broadening engagement to advance bilateral ties and enhance mutual understanding between the countries.
The delegation, comprised of Sri Lankan senior military officers and officials, was briefed on the functioning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The key aspects of Pakistan’s foreign policy and several dimensions of Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations were guided.

During the session, the delegation grasped Pakistan’s diplomatic priorities, security issues, and its role in promoting peace and stability in South Asia.
Strengthening Pakistan-Sri Lanka Relations
The visit also produced an opportunity to explore the enduring and friendly relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The Delegation outlined the historic and robust ties between the two nations. The prime focus to discuss is trade, defense cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
Pakistan drew attention to its commitment to enhancing collaboration further with Sri Lanka, especially in the zones of mutual interest.
That includes defense, security, and economic cooperation. Sri Lanka wants to grow years of military coordination, joint exercises, and training programs.
Key Foreign Policy Briefing
The delegation received an in-depth briefing on essential components of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy.
The Ministry of Pakistan highlighted the diplomatic objectives such as loyalty to nurture peace, countering terrorism, and dedicating multilateralism.
The officials also provided perspective into Pakistan’s view on regional security issues. Resolving the Kashmir issue can lead to peace in South Asia.
Pakistan’s position in the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) and its involvement in international peacekeeping efforts were also discussed.
