Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and Ethiopia have agreed to enhance cooperation on the multilateral stage to advance mutual interests, peace, and development.
To this end, a meeting was held between Dr. Jemal Beker, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of Ethiopia, and Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Foreign Affairs, here at the PM Office in Islamabad.
They discussed matters of mutual interest, including multilateral collaboration between the two nations to achieve the common goals of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
They also committed to enhance bilateral collaboration between the two nations in the fields of trade, investment, aviation, technology, and climate change.
On the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Jemal congratulated the SAPM on Pakistan’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in 2025.
He briefed the SAPM on political, economic, social and legal reforms driven by the “Medemer” philosophy of Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, which stressed inter-generational cooperation, national unity, and leveraging collective potential.
The envoy said the establishment of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad itself is a manifestation of the Medemer philosophy, which designed to foster synergistic relations and collaborative diplomacy.
He reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to multilateralism, global peace and security, regional integration, and pan-Africanism.

On the other side, the SAPM appreciated the role being played by Ethiopia in ensuring peace and security at regional and international levels, and also acknowledged its notable economic development under the leadership of PM Dr. Abiy Ahmed.

He assured the envoy of his full support for further strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The Ambassador also presented the SAPM a copy of the Book ‘Generation Medemer’ authored by PM Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
