Abu Dhabi, 6 September 2024 (TDI): The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi hosted a reception to commemorate Defence Day onboard Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Shamsheer at the Cruise Terminal, Mina Zayed Port.
The event was attended by UAE dignitaries, diplomatic corps, and officials from the UAE government.
Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, along with Commodore Shahid Wasif SI (M), Mission Commander of the Pakistan Navy, welcomed the chief guest, General Salem Saeed Al Jabri, UAE’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Military and Security Affairs, and Brigadier Abdullah Al Mohairbi, Deputy Commander of the UAE Navy.
A cake-cutting ceremony also marked the occasion.
In his welcome address, Commodore Shahid Wasif highlighted the commencement of the bilateral naval exercise ‘Nasl Al Bahr’ between Pakistan and the UAE, currently taking place in the UAE.
He emphasized that the exercise aims to strengthen cooperation between the two navies, enhance interoperability, and build capacities.
Pakistan-UAE Military Cooperation
Ambassador Faisal Tirmizi underscored the strong partnership between Pakistan and UAE armed forces in achieving peace, stability, and security in the region.
He noted that the history of close collaboration between the two militaries dates back even before the unification of the Emirates.

Ambassador Tirmizi further stated that the relationship between the two countries has grown stronger, evidenced by the UAE Navy’s hosting of Pakistan Navy’s flotilla for the fifth edition of the ‘Nasl Al Bahr’ exercise.
He acknowledged the contributions of retired Pakistani veterans who have played a significant role in fostering bilateral ties by serving as instructors and in various capacities within the UAE’s defence sector.
He also extended gratitude to the UAE’s Ministry of Defence for hosting PNS Shamsheer and Haibat and for their warm hospitality in celebrating this important occasion together.
