Pakistan Embassies on Alert to Assist Citizens in Myanmar, Thailand After Quake

Islamabad (TDI): In response to a devastating earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand that has claimed at least 144 lives and injured 732, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit to closely monitor the situation.

The Pakistan embassies in Yangon and Bangkok remain on alert to assist Pakistani citizens in case of emergencies.

“In light of the unfortunate earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand, the Pakistan Embassies in Yangon and Bangkok will be available to provide assistance to Pakistani citizens in the event of emergencies,” the Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

It has also provided contact numbers for those in need of support.

For assistance, Pakistani nationals can contact the embassy officials in Yangon: Anwar Zeb (Charge d’ Affaires) at +959880922880, Anwar Zeb (Charge d’ Affaires) at +959880922880, Muhammad Shoaib (Counsellor) at +959448999967 and Ali Sher (Consular Assistant) at +959457099977, the Ministry said.

In Bangkok, Fahad (First Secretary) can be reached at +66 95 968 1506 and Yaseen (Consular Assistant) at +66 91 697 7702.

Moreover, the Crisis Management Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, is available at 051-9207887or via email at cmu1@mofa.gov.pk.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar conveyed his sympathies to the governments and people of both countries, stating, “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the governments and people of Thailand and Myanmar in the wake of today’s devastating earthquake. We stand in solidarity with our friends, hoping for their swift recovery and minimal loss. May they find strength and resilience in this challenging time.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs echoed these sentiments, offering condolences and prayers for those affected by the disaster.

“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this tragedy, and we are praying for all those affected as well as for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Ministry said in a statement.

It also appreciated the courageous people and emergency responders who were working diligently on the ground and were engaged in rescue operations.

“Their bravery and commitment during this urgent time are truly admirable,” the statement added.
