On the 85th National Day, Pakistan’s embassies and consulate generals around the world hosted flag hoisting ceremonies to commemorate the historic Pakistan Resolution, 1940.
In addition to dignitaries and diplomatic staff, Pakistani communities in respective countries also attended these ceremonies.
Separate flag hoisting events were observed in embassies in Jordan, Sweden, Libya, Spain, Côte d’Ivoire, Brussels, Cambodia, Prague, Zimbabwe, Germany, Iraq, Vietnam, Egypt, Tunisia, France, China, Argentina, Denmark, Austria, Libya, Norway, Uzbekistan, Netherlands, Senegal, Philippines, Ireland, Czech republic, Portugal, Washington, Ankara, Beijing, Cuba, Lebanon, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, Belgium, Afghanistan, Norway, Thailand, UAE, and other countries.
An elaborate celebration of the Pakistan Day was organized by the country’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, in New York. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative-designate to the UN hoisted the flag and messages of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari were read aloud for the audience.

In his address, Ambassador Asim recalled the “multidimensional approach” of the Founding Fathers of Pakistan and how they mobilized people to want a separate and free country.
“The millions of Muslims who gathered at the historic Minar-e-Pakistan on this day 85 years ago set an enduring example of perseverance, courage, and selflessness in achieving the goal of Pakistan’s establishment under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” he noted.
The country’s Mission in Geneva also observed a flag hoisting ceremony. Moreover, High Commissions in Ottawa, Malaysia, Colombo, Kenya, Uganda, and Singapore also marked the National Day by raising the flag high and remembering the spirit of unity that ties the nation together.
Pakistan’s Consulate General in New York hosted a reception at this occasion. Consul General Amer Ahmed Atozai hoisted the flag and appreciated the resilience and unity of the Pakistani community in New York and the United States at large.
Other Consulate Generals; those in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston also observed the Day with enthusiasm and national fervor.
Ankara’s tallest tower, Atakule, lit up in green to pay tribute to Pakistan and Pakistani people. In Istanbul, bridges on Bosphorus linking Asia with Europe also illuminated in green. Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa also lit up wrapped in Pakistan’s flag.

Wishing Pakistan on the occasion, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Jordan, Oman, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Serbia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Uzbekistan, and Saudi Arabia issued special messages, celebrating bilateral relations while extending greetings on the Day.
Chinese Embassy in Pakistan posted on X: “Happy Pakistan Day, our heartfelt congrats to the government & people of Pakistan! Wish continuous prosperity & development for Pakistan, and happiness & well-being for our brothers & sisters. On the way to prosperity, China will always stand with Pakistan. ChinPakDostiZindabad!”
Moreover, Ambassadors of Sweden, Russia, and Germany also wished Pakistan on the 85 Years of the adoption of Pakistan Resolution.
