Islamabad (TDI): The Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan, Maja Mortensen, met with Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, to discuss deepening ties in climate action and science diplomacy.
During the meeting, both sides explored the evolving role of science diplomacy amid the current global political landscape. Dr. Musadik Malik emphasized that countries in the Global South bear a disproportionate share of the climate crisis, despite contributing far less to global emissions.
He noted that nearly 70 percent of greenhouse gas emissions come from just ten countries, which also receive around 85 percent of international green financing.
Federal Minister appreciated the strong social welfare models and progressive environmental values of the Nordic countries. The meeting also included an exchange of views on the prevailing global political situation and its implications for climate action and international cooperation.
