New York (TDI): Pakistan reaffirmed its longstanding support for Palestinian rights and called for sustained diplomatic engagement to achieve a just resolution of the Middle East conflict during a high-level briefing of the United Nations Security Council on the Palestinian question on Wednesday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar addressed the Council, stressing that lasting peace in the region cannot be achieved without justice and accountability. He stated that “there can be no durable peace without justice, no stability without accountability, and no sustainable solution without the realisation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.”
Summarising Pakistan’s position, Dar said Islamabad remains fully engaged in diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a permanent cessation of hostilities and reaching a fair and lasting settlement of the conflict.
He reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of what it described as illegal measures by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories and reaffirmed opposition to actions that alter the demographic or legal status of the land, calling such steps violations of international law.

Separately, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on X that Dar would reaffirm the country’s “principled and consistent position on Palestine,” underscoring opposition to Israeli expansion of control in the West Bank and calling for increased humanitarian assistance for civilians in Gaza.

Pakistan has consistently advocated a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. It has supported relevant resolutions at the United Nations, maintaining that any durable peace must be grounded in international law and respect for Palestinian rights.
