Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has strongly criticized India’s recent remarks about minority rights violations, stating that a country consistently violating the rights of its own minorities is in no position to champion these rights on the world stage.
In response to a statement made by India’s Ministry of External Affairs in the Lok Sabha regarding the situation of minorities in Pakistan, Foreign Office spokesperson, Shafqat Ali Khan, said that New Delhi’s own track record of minority rights violations disqualifies it from criticizing other countries.
‘India has no standing to act as a champion of minority rights, given its own serial violations,’ Khan aid.
He added that while Pakistan’s state institutions are protecting minority rights, incidents targeting minorities in India often occur with the implicit approval or involvement of ruling factions.
He urged New Delhi to focus on addressing its own inadequacies rather criticizing other nations.

“Instead of expressing concern about minorities abroad, New Delhi should take concrete measures to safeguard its own minorities, including Muslims and other vulnerable communities, and ensure their fundamental rights, safety of their places of worship and cultural heritage,” the spokesperson said.
Moreover, the Foreign Office also expressed condolences over the devastating earthquake that hit Myanmar, Thailand and neighbouring regions on Friday claiming the lives of more than one thousand people.

“Our hearts go out to all those affected by this tragedy,” the spokesperson said.
