Pakistan Strongly Condemns Israeli Strikes in Lebanon

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Beirut and southern Lebanon, urging the international community to hold Israel accountable and take urgent steps to stop the attacks.

Thursday’s strike targeted Hezbollah positions and was the fourth bombing of Beirut by Israel since the ceasefire agreement in November 2024.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attack, calling it a clear violation of international agreements, especially since it occurred on the eve of Eid ul Azha.

The current clashes between Israel and Hezbollah began on October 8, shortly after Hamas launched attacks on southern Israeli communities, sparking the Gaza conflict.

Hezbollah, allied with Hamas, claims its operations aim to support Palestinians facing Israeli bombardment in Gaza.

In its statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office expressed solidarity with the people of Lebanon during this difficult time.

It criticized the use of force, saying it endangers civilians, increases regional tensions, and undermines efforts for peace.

The FO emphasized that the strikes violated Lebanon’s sovereignty and the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.

“We call on the international community, especially the United Nations and ceasefire mediators, to act immediately to hold Israel accountable and prevent further escalation,” the statement said.

“Pakistan remains committed to peace, justice, and upholding international law,” it added.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced on Thursday that the Lebanese army had dismantled over 500 Hezbollah military positions and arms depots in the south.

Salam warned, “There can be no security or stability as long as Israel’s violations continue, parts of our land remain occupied, and our prisoners are not released.”
