Pakistan Vehmently Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Syria

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against Syria and its illegal seizure of the Syrian territory amid crises and political turmoil in the country.

“Pakistan condemns in the strongest possible terms, Israeli aggression against Syria and its illegal seizure of the Syrian territory. This assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria is a grave breach of international law,” FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said.

Israel’s provocative actions are a dangerous development in an already volatile region, She stated.

The spokesperson said that Israel has continued to blatantly defy international law and violate UN Security Council Resolutions.

Pakistan expresses full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and rejects Israeli acquisition of territory by force, the spokesperson added.

“We reaffirm our support for the UN Security Council Resolution 497, which declares Israeli annexation of the Golan Heights “null and void and without international legal effect.”

Pakistan Calls For Ending Israeli Impunity

She said, “We urge the international community, including the United Nations Security Council, to take immediate and decisive steps to end Israeli impunity, its repeated violations of international law, and aggression against countries of the region.”

Pakistan also reiterates that peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without complete Israeli withdrawal from Occupied Palestine and other occupied territories, including the Syrian Golan.

The US has already supported Israeli move to take control of the buffer zone in the Golan Heights.

A day earlier, the spokesperson of the US state Department claimed that the occupation of five Syrian villages across the Golan Heights was temporary, and would not amount to a permanent expansion of Israeli territory, he was responding to a question on violation of international law.

Israel took control of a strategic buffer zone in the Golan Heights, established by a 1974 ceasefire agreement with Syria, following a dramatic advance by Syrian opposition forces that led to the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

After the illegal move, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel could not allow “hostile forces” to establish themselves on its border after Syrian soldiers abandoned their positions adding that its agreement with Syria collapsed.

Soon after the Israeli troops and tanks occupied the Syrian villages, it advised locals to limit themselves to houses.
