Pakistan, China Ink 3 MoUs to Deepen Economic Cooperation

Urumqi (TDI): Pakistan and China on Friday signed three fresh memorandums of understanding (MoUs) aimed at boosting cooperation in livestock, textile production, and fire truck manufacturing. The agreements were formalized in Urumqi in the presence of President Asif Ali Zardari.

The signings follow an earlier round of pacts inked this week, covering agriculture, farmer training, and maritime affairs. President Zardari was accompanied on his visit by senior ministers from Sindh as well as other officials.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the first MoU, between Loyang Modern Biotechnologies and the Sindh government, focuses on modernizing Pakistan’s livestock industry. Sindh Minister Nasir Shah signed the agreement on behalf of the provincial government.

The second pact, concluded between Beijing Asian Africa Longyue and ASM Services, paves the way for establishing a state-of-the-art textile industrial park in Pakistan. Officials said the initiative is expected to drive industrial expansion and support the country’s export ambitions.

Under the third MoU, Sichuan Chuanxiao Fire Trucks Manufacturing Company and ASM Services agreed to collaborate on the supply, distribution, and after-sales service of fire trucks and other emergency response equipment in Pakistan.

President Zardari described the agreements as vital for economic growth and social welfare. He stressed that upgrading the livestock sector would bolster food security and rural employment, while the textile park would strengthen Pakistan’s export base. He added that the fire truck initiative would enhance the country’s disaster and emergency response capacity.
