Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and Bulgaria are celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations with a shared commitment to peace, cultural exchange and economic cooperation.
Pakistan and Bulgaria established their diplomatic ties in 1965. The two counties have established a strong partnership and mutual respect over these past 6 decades.
In a special message, the Foreign Office of Pakistan has conveyed warm wishes to the leadership and people of Bulgaria and called this event as a “testament to the cordial and enduring friendship between our nations over the decades.”

Foreign Ministry of Pakistan and Bulgaria also exchanged congratulatory letters celebrating the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, the Bulgarian Ministry said on X. The letters reaffirmed their shared commitment to strong and lasting ties of friendships and cooperation.
The messages highlight their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across the various sectors that meet the interests of both countries.
The Embassy of Bulgaria in Pakistan also earlier this month on 3rd June 2025 hosted a captivating photo exhibition “The Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria” to celebrate Day of Bulgarian alphabet and 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations with Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Bulgaria stated.

Over the years, both countries have cooperated in various fields such as education, science and agriculture. The first Eastern European country that recognized Pakistan’s strategic importance was Bulgaria while Pakistan values Bulgaria’s role as a bridge between South Asia and Europe.
Irena Gancheva is serving as current Ambassador of Republic of Bulgaria to Pakistan and Modasar Chaudhry is currently serving as Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Bulgaria.
As both nations look forward, this 60th anniversary is a symbol of unity, peace and promise for the future.
