Lahore, 29 September 2022 (TDI): The Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi met the Ambassador of UAE to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi. The meeting took place on Thursday where both sides highlighted strengthening ties between UAE and Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister of Punjab put great emphasis on the bilateral trade and investment cooperation between both countries. He said that United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of Pakistan’s most important partners.

Correspondingly, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan needs the help of the UAE to strengthen its infrastructure in various sectors. Therefore, he welcomed trade and investment opportunities between the province of Punjab and the UAE.

In response, the ambassador of the UAE affirmed to work for the intensification of cooperation with the Punjab government. Moreover, he also expressed his desire to invite more investors to Pakistan to which the Chief Minister vowed to provide all possible amenities to these UAE investors.

The Ambassador of the UAE also took the opportunity to extend his condolences to the people of Pakistan amid the floods. He affirmed that the UAE stands with Pakistan during these critical times.

The UAE is also among the countries that provided humanitarian aid to Pakistan amid the recent floods.

Discussion on Dhabi group’s investment:

Earlier this year, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked for the revival of the Mubarak Centre project. As per the agreement, the Dhabi Group agreed to make an investment of Rs60 billion in Punjab.

Accordingly, The Dhabi Group will construct the Mubarak Centre in Lahore under the auspices of Taavun Private Limited. The Punjab government will provide all possible cooperation with regard to the construction of the Mubarak Centre.

Within the agreement, the Dhabi Group and Punjab government will build the tallest building in Lahore. The then Punjab Chief Minister, Usman Buzdar, and UAE Minister, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak witnessed its signing in February 2022.

Accordingly, it was also one of the topics discussed during the meeting between the UAE ambassador and Punjab’s Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister appreciated the investment of the Dhabi group in the state-of-the-art project of the Mubarak center in Lahore.
