Pakistan And Iran Discuss Middle East Situation

Pakistan, 3rd August 2024 (TDI): In a telephone conversation, Pakistani Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian Acting Foreign Minister discussed the recent developments in the Middle East, including the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the killing of Palestinian leader Ismail Haniyeh.

According to a spokesperson for the Foreign Office, Iranian Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani called Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on August 3, 2024, to express Iran’s deep sorrow over Haniyeh’s assassination. Dar reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the Gaza violence and Haniyeh’s brutal killing, stating that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had denounced the act in the strongest terms.

The two leaders also discussed the need for a joint strategy to stop the genocide of Palestinians and agreed to support the upcoming extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers, requested by Iran. Pakistan has assured full support for the meeting, which is expected to take place soon.
