Yaoundé, 30 August 2024 (TDI): On the sidelines of the 50th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi met with Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain, Advisor to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both the representatives discussed the bilateral ties between the two countries.
50th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers Held in Yaoundé
The Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) serves as the OIC’s primary decision-making body, with one representative from each member state. As the largest intergovernmental organization focused on Muslim nations, it holds its annual Islamic Summit conferences. This year’s CFM session took place in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from August 29-30, 2024.
Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Qazi led the country’s delegation and presented Pakistan’s views on key global issues. He also held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other OIC member countries attending CFM. In this regard, he met Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain, Advisor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 29 August.

Emphasis on Enhanced Dialogue and Cooperation
Foreign Secretary Qazi highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to its strong, brotherly relations with Bangladesh. He emphasized the shared goodwill between the two nations. In addition, he expressed Pakistan’s desire to enhance bilateral dialogue and cooperation with Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain briefed Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary on recent political developments in Bangladesh. Foreign Secretary Qazi wished for continued peace and prosperity for the people of Bangladesh.
Both sides agreed to maintain active engagement on issues of mutual interest. They also expressed commitment to further strengthening their bilateral ties.
