Pakistan Aims to Strengthen trade Footprints in Africa

Lagos, 27 November 2021 (TDI): The 2nd Pakistan Africa Trade Development Conference and the Pakistan Single Country Exhibition was successfully held in Nigeria. The event was held from 23 to 25 November 2021.

The Conference was attended by more than 4000 business persons from Nigeria and member states of the Economic Community of West African States.

Pakistan’s Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razzak Dawood lauded the event as a success. He announced that multiple agreements and MOU’s were signed and export orders were booked.

Look Africa Policy

The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) formulated the Look Africa Policy in 2017. It pursues to promote trade to double trade with African Countries by the year 2025. The target African countries included Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Tanzania, Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal, Ethiopia, and South Africa.

The Adviser to Prime Minister viewed this event as a success of the Look Africa Policy. Speaking on the event he said that the look Africa Policy was formulated as part of Pakistan’s export diversification drive. It set a target of doubling exports to Africa in 5 years. He added that multiple initiatives have been taken up under the policy and exports are seeing a boost in Africa.

He viewed this event as an opportunity which will strengthen Pakistan’s footprint in Africa by creating deeper in roads in Africa, and fortifying the presence of Pakistani exporters.

The Adviser also met multiple state representatives and officials on the side lines of PATDC. Including the Head of Nigerian Standards Organisation, Meeting of the Advisor to PM on Commerce and Investment with representative of Agriculture Minister of Nigeria, and the Permanent Ambassador of Nigeria Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Momentos were also presented to leading African officials attending the session by Abdul Razzak Dawood.

The Adviser on behalf of the MOC thanked the government of Nigeria for facilitating the 2nd Pakistan Africa Trade Development Conference & the Single Country Exhibition at Lagos. He also extended a note of thanks to all the participating exhibitors and delegates both from across Africa and Pakistan.
