Brussels (TDI): Ambassador Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Pakistan’s top envoy to the European Union, held a productive meeting with Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Türkiye’s Ambassador to the EU.
Both diplomats exchanged views on a wide-ranging, pressing geopolitical issues and areas of mutual interest.
During the conversation, both ambassadors discussed the changing dynamics of global politics, with a strong focus on the growing strategic importance of their respective regions — South Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Ambassador Qureshi and Ambassador Kaymakcı underscored the need for continued cooperation and dialogue between Pakistan and Türkiye, particularly in multilateral forums such as the European Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the United Nations.
Ambassador Qureshi appreciated Türkiye’s principled stance on key regional and international matters, including its consistent support for Pakistan on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
In return, Ambassador Kaymakcı highlighted Pakistan’s strategic position and its role as a bridge between Central Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East.
Both diplomats noted the deep-rooted, historic, and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, which are grounded in shared religious, cultural, and diplomatic values.

Both diplomats also acknowledged that the relationship between the two countries has evolved into a strategic partnership, marked by strong defence cooperation, trade ties, and people-to-people contacts.
Previously, Türkiye and Pakistan have collaborated closely in recent years on a variety of regional and global platforms, promoting peace, security, and sustainable development.
They also exchanged views on current global challenges including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the situation in Gaza, the dynamics of the Indo-Pacific, and the increasing relevance of the Global South in shaping the international order.
Both sides stressed the importance of multilateralism, mutual respect, and peaceful conflict resolution.
The ambassadors reaffirmed their commitment to further intensifying cooperation in areas such as trade, climate action, migration, and educational exchange, especially in alignment with evolving EU priorities and regional peace efforts.
